How to make it done

How to Colour Your Kit

This is a simple step-by-step guide on how to colour your kit:

  1. Use the scheme below to properly colour your figures.
  2. Prepare the brush and paint that you found in the kit. You can use any other paint if you want, but we can't guarantee the same results.
  3. Always use a dry brush for acrylic paint; no water is needed.
  4. Apply the paint in layers for a rich colour. You can use two or more layers, but make sure each subsequent layer is applied after the previous one has completely dried (approximately 10 minutes).
  5. After each layer (or before changing colors), wash your brush thoroughly to prevent unnecessary color mixing. Don't forget to dry the brush with a napkin or paper towel after washing.

Useful tips:

  • You may only colour visible parts; frames in all layers don't need to be coloured, only the top one.
  • To identify visible parts, collect all the layers together and look for their boundaries.
  • To prevent paint smudges on the edges and sides, try putting a small amount of paint in the center of the layer and then spreading it to the edges. Avoid picking up too much paint.

How to Glue Your Kit

  1. Place the bottom layer face up.
  2. Place the next layer face down.
  3. Apply some glue to the reverse side of the second layer.
  4. Match both layers and press for a while.
  5. Repeat stages 1-4 with all the other layers.

Useful tips:

  • Apply glue as small dots (1-2 mm) at a distance of 1-1.5 cm to prevent the glue from spreading on the sides.
  • If the layer is not flat (plywood is not always flat, unfortunately), use some weight after matching the layers for 5-7 minutes. This will be enough to fix it in the proper position.

Other little secrets to help your artwork look great

  • Give it some extra protection. Your artwork will still look great as is, but sealing it with a clear spray varnish can help it stay beautiful longer.

  • Paint the outside edges. Not required, but painting the outer sides of the frame can give your piece a more finished, polished look.

  • Prep the edges for smoother painting. For cleaner paint coverage on the frame edges, try mixing the included glue with water (1:1 ratio) and brushing on two thin coats before painting. It helps seal the wood and makes painting easier.

Christmas Tree Colouring Scheme

Paint both sides of the second, third, and fourth colour layers. You may use different colours on each side. For the top layers, paint only one side.
